After the success of the Cheapskates piece we bring you this! Who doesn’t love a good happy hour? Sure it doesn’t always happen in the best of places, but BarChick has been all over town finding you the ones where you’ll be happy to stay once the prices go back up. And no, there’s nothing wrong with doubling up every time you hit the bar – its happy hour innit!
One of our favourites! If you hit the Rum Kitchen straight after work from 6 – 7pm Monday – Thursday it’s two for one on all cocktails, so that’s around two for the price of £8. Take a mate and act like it’s Friday! Go for their Rattle Skull Punch for starters – it’s a blend of dark and light rum with their own blend of juices, spices and a blue wray float for good measure.
6-8 All Saints Road, London, W11 1HH // Monday – Thursday 6 – 7pm
Half price decent cocktails, yes. Lots of music and fun, yes.
78 Venn Street, London, SW4 0BD // Sunday – Friday: 5 – 7 // 2 for 1 cocktails
This wicked bar is hidden through the Smeg fridge at The Breakfast Club in Spitalfields. The cocktails are great so you can’t go wrong, but you’ll have to ask to see the Mayor in order to get in through the secret fridge.
12-16 Artillery Lane, The Breakfast Club (behind the Smeg fridge), London, E1 7LS // Monday – Thursday: 5 – 6pm // All cocktails £5
Slim Jim’s brings the best of American dive bars to Islington. There are rocking tunes on the jukebox and the party keeps going until late whether it’s the start of the week or a Saturday night. Sweet (oh and girls get your bra off, hang it from the ceiling and you get a free drink). Win win boys (drunk chicks with their tits out).
112 Upper St, London, N1 1NQ // Every day 4 – 8pm // 2 for 1 on most cocktails, £3 for non-premium beers and 4 bottles of Tiger or Sol before 8pm (everyday)
Islington’s best place to grab your seafood snack has also got an awesome little Happy Hour in the week. Head down every Monday to Friday for £4 glasses of wine, cocktails for a £5 and 3.3 beer growlers (jugs to you and me) for £12 a go. Their cocktails change on the regs so you’ll never get bored week in week out and they do some damn fine fish on the menu.
Oh and their city location has got for 2-1 cocktails Monday to Thursday from 5 – 6pm. Get stuck into the likes of a Dirty Fish Martini made with anchovy brine or the Spice Trader made with Macallan Gold, winter spice, honey syrup and orange bitters.
189 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1RQ // Monday – Friday 5pm – 7pm // £4 glasses of wine, £5 selected cocktails, £12 3.3 beer growlers
Dashwood House, 69 Old Broad Street, London, EC2M 1QS // Monday – Thursday // 5pm - 6pm // 2-4-1 cocktails
The Shoreditch post of the Barrio train is nothing that the cool east end kids can’t handle, but it sure is some kinda psychedelic Latino playground. This place is all pineapples, foliage and quirky bits. They have an Amigo Hour happy hour that’s cocktails for £4.50 every day from 4pm – 8pm. Got that 4pm afternoon office slump? This is your cure right here.
141-143 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6JE // daily 4pm – 8pm // £4.50
Mexicans know how to party – grab a pitcher and a quesadilla and get some tequilas in.
329 Kings Road, London, SW3 5ES // Daily 5 – 7pm // 2 for 1 on cocktails, £1 for tacos on Sundays
They do it all here: cocktails, real ales, decent food and live music. Plus a BarChick style happy ‘hour’, the best out there – they keep it going all day on Sundays!
339 Battersea Park Road, London, SW11 4LS // Tuesday & Wednesday 5 – 8pm, ALL NIGHT Thursday, Friday 5 – 9pm, Saturday 12 – 7.30pm, ALL DAY Sunday // A load of cocktails at £5.00
This cool little bar in Peckham has great cocktails that are pretty cheap anyway, which means happy hour is like Primark’s sale. Spend your savings on one of their pizza slices = sorted.
213 Blenheim Grove, London, SE15 4QL // Daily 6 – 7pm // 2 for 1 on cocktails
This place is somewhere between a hunting lodge, a beer hall and a cocktail lounge – sometimes you can have it all! Don’t rush off after happy hour is up, the club upstairs opens at 10pm.
40 Acre Lane, Brixton, London, SW2 5SP // Monday – Friday 5 – 7pm // 2 for 1 on cocktails, £10 for a bottle of house wine

11 Barley Mow Passage, Chiswick, London W4 4PH // Sunday – Thursday 5 – 7pm // Half price cocktails, bottled beers, glasses of house wine and bar food (you’ve got to mention the offer when ordering)
Their naval themed place on Shaftesbury Avenue has wicked drinks and a sexy, low-lit tattooed look with swallows and pin-up girls on the walls. Otherwise, head over to their Goodge Street spot where they have more drinks and delicious bar snacks.
224 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8EB 61 Goodge Street, London, W1T 1TL // Monday all night off the whole menu, Tues – Sat 4:30-7pm // 2 for 1 on cocktails
You can escape the flock of tourists in Covent Garden down here – it’s all about good drinks and good times. The music is random and they have daily deals at the bar, as well as their ALL NIGHT happy hour on Mondays.
6-7 Great Newport Street, London, WC2H 7JA // Monday all night off the whole menu, Tues – Sat 4:30 – 7pm // 2 for 1 cocktails
The Drunken Monkey
This place has a mega happy hour that pulls in the crowds so it usually feels like it’s watering the five thousand. You’ll find it on the brink of Shoreditch and the city but the crowd is a bit of everything, mostly hungry, drinking, party people.
221-222 Shoreditch High Street, London E1 6PJ // Mon – Fri: 5pm – 7pm, Sat: 6pm – 8pm, Sun: all day // Select cocktails are £4.50 and a bucket of four Asaahi beers is £10
The fish is in an old TV, the best seat in the house is at the piano and this place has a very happy hour that happens daily. Their cocktails are heavy on the seasonal stuff and they love a homemade ingredient.
270 Upper Street, London, N1 2UQ // Mon – Sun: 5pm – 7pm // Two of the same cocktail from a selected menu of 9 of their cocktails
