The 12 Drinks of Christmas

It’s time.  Dust off your festive jumpers, stock up on ice and shine your shaker.  No matter who you’re hanging with, we’ve got a drink for the occasion. From a big-ass punch from officially ‘The best new spirit of the year’ to ridiculously decadent Espresso Martini twists and just damn good Daiquiris  – it’s time to shake things up this Christmas.  These are the 12 drinks we’ll be making this year.

1.Merry Citrus by Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto

Forget vats of mulled wine and sickly sweet punches – this fresh citrus punch is the ultimate drink to make for the whole gang.  Italicus is the most award winning spirit of 2017 so if you want to look like you really know your stuff (as well as try something damn good) this is the bottle you need to bring to the party.

In a tureen or punch bowl:

1 bottle Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto

1 bottle Chardonnay

Chilled fennel seed tea

Dashes of orange bitters

4 tbsp sugar

Stirred over ice

Garnished with something beautiful

2. Sweet Manhattan by Buffalo Trace

Channel your inner Don Draper and keep things perfectly classic this Christmas.  Game of cards and a Sweet Manhattan? Now you’re talking.

In a mixing glass:

50ml Buffalo Trace

25 ml Antica Formula

Stir over ice

Pour into coupette glass

Garnish with a cocktail cherry

3. Boodles Royale by Boodles Gin

Considering kicking off with a Kir? You can do better than that. Boodles Mulberry Gin is bang on for this time of year; currants, berries, sugar and spice, it’s all in there. Topped up with fizz it’s possibly the chicest (and most simple) cocktail you’ll ever make.

In a Champagne flute:

1 part Boodles Mulberry Gin

3 parts Champagne

Garnished with a lemon twist

4. Southern Berry Sour by Southern Comfort

Dangerously drinkable, this is light, fresh and long which means you won’t be topping up everyone’s glasses every 5 minutes. Nice. Garnish with some berries and a sprig of holly for an ultra festive vibe.

In a tall glass:

50 ml Southern Comfort

Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

100ml cranberry juice

50 ml Sicilian lemonade

Garnish

5. 1800 Blush by 1800 Tequila

Christmas day might not be a time for shots of tequila with Nan but a tequila this good definitely deserves a place at the party.  Super simple to make, tasty and this 100% agave tequila will leave you feeling much fresher the next day than your mate who’s knocking back Prosecco.

In a balloon glass:

50ml 1800 Tequila

Topped up with Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade

Garnished with a wedge of grapefruit and a sprig of mint

6. GingerTini by Feeney’s Irish Cream

It just isn’t Christmas until you’ve indulged in some Irish Cream. Rather than sipping neat in front of the TV shake it up into this twist on an Espresso Martini, it’s SILLY good and makes the perfect post-dinner cocktail (or post-breakfast, we’re not judging).

In a cocktail shaker:

20ml vodka

60ml Feeney’s Irish Cream

40ml gingerbread syrup

15 ml espresso

Shake over ice, strain and pour into a cocktail glass

Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon and gold leaf

7. Hide The Rum by Bumbu

Caribbean meets Christmas spice in this sexy number; this is the drink to make if you’re looking to impress. It’s smooth, delicious and guaranteed to be beat any Christmas cocktail your in-laws have ever tried.

In a cocktail shaker:

50ml Bumbu Rum

15ml Fino Sherry

25ml Session Ale spice reduction

2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Shaken over ice

Poured into rocks glass

8. Christmas G&T by Yuletide Gin

You just can’t beat a G&T.  Well unless it’s filled with GOLD. Yuletide Gin is made with festive botanicals and spices and has the perfect hint of Christmas.  When you add in tonic it glitters and all the gold bubbles to the top – total Insta dream.

In a tall glass:

50ml Yuletide Gin

Topped up with Fever Tree Aromatic Tonic

Spray orange slice with glitter

Garnish and serve

9. Pineapple Daiquiri by Plantation Rum

Get your tiki freak on this Christmas and shake up some Daiquiris Plantation Rum style. Their Plantation Pineapple Rum is unbelievably delicious so if you can resist drinking it from the bottle, this is a damn good way to enjoy it.  

In a cocktail shaker:

50ml Plantation Pineapple

75ml pineapple juice

25ml lime juice

12.5ml sugar syrup

Shake over ice

Pour into a coupette and dust with cinnamon

10. Casa Cider by Casamigos Tequila

A tequila that’s almost as tasty as George Clooney himself (he’s the man behind Casamigos).  2017 has been the year of tequila and things have moved way past the salt and lime days – if you wanna see what tequila can do in cocktails then give this a go.

In a cocktail shaker:

50ml Casamigos Reposado Tequila

25ml fresh lemon juice

25ml flat apple cider

15ml ginger syrup

15ml agave

2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Shake over ice

Pour over ice into a rocks glass

Garnish with apple slice, aniseed, thyme and cinammon
