Newton Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

Being located in Mitte, where the wine bars are almost endless, an establishment has to work especially hard to stand out for BarChick. Newton manages it with ease. Taking its name from the photographer Helmut Newton, on entry you can see why.

Having passed the well-stocked humidor, you are met with floor to ceiling black and white nudes (his signature) adorning the walls. All of them in vogue and tasteful, it is the perfect backdrop to sink into the leather armchairs and order a cocktail.

The drinks menu is almost overly comprehensive, fancy a Nebuchadnezzar of Moet? The cocktails are professionally made and served; the Untouchable was delicious and alcoholic in equal measure. Upstairs is the smokers’ lounge with its own cigar menu, and Barchick was delighted to find sitting up there comfortable, smoking or not. Floor to ceiling windows allow a great view of the Deutscher Dom (think St. Pauls) across the street. Outside seating completes the package for those wanting to watch the world go by and makes Newton Bar a great place to indulge yourself for a few hours.
