BARCHICK SAYS

This is an old milliners’ workshop craftily fashioned into a bar, and we’re into it. Frequented mostly by the Florentine locals, word on the street is that this is where the cool kids hang.

The retro furniture is illustrated with books on woodwork and hundreds of ornaments plus wooden carvings of everything from horse heads to high heels. The story is that the milliner gave up his trade and abandoned the bar leaving all his carvings, tools and equipment behind... laterz.

This buzzing spot on the Piazza Santo Spirito (you’ll spot the colossal Basilica of Santo Spirito out front) is also home to a flurry of excellent restaurants, so you won’t have to go far for a night of live music and cheap drinks.

If you make your way to the back of the bar you’ll find the stage where local musicians play during the week. If you need another reason to visit, then you’ll be glad to know they serve crepes all day and night. Chocolate and banana crepe with a beer? Yeah thought so.
