With views over the city right up to the sea and an unrivalled view of the castle lit up in all its glory – this is the place for a night-cap (or five). BarChick was staying in the hotel (it’s hostel too if you’re penny broke) and happily stumbled upon it one evening after taking a flight of stairs too many.

Inside the vibe is shabby chic, and you’ll chance upon anything from porcelain dolls and a stag dressed to impress in a bowtie, to an ear canal, true story. Sit up at the counter to watch the chefs / bartenders an in action, but on a beautiful night, the balcony is the star of the show, especially when accompanied by a portion of razor clams.

Settle in by a heater and drink a toast to Lisboa. BarChick sank a few bottles of Vino Verde then moved on to the damn fine Old Fashioneds, and thanked her lucky stars for the one minute stumble to her room.
