BARCHICK SAYS

“Alma” as it’s known by the locals is one helluva venue. What used to be a Catholic church is now two floors of restaurant, bar and club. Stain glass windows stretch from top to bottom, the ceiling is sky high and it still retains that eerie, peaceful vibe of a holy house with hundreds of flickering candles. The restaurant upstairs is a good place to start if you're hungry; order the Mojito Lamb Rump which is served pink with a mojito inspired crust, or if you're into a bit of Sister Act, head here for their Sunday Service Gospel Brunch - you can enjoy their epic menu while listening to their amazing live Gospel Choir. Hallelujah to that.

Downstairs at the bar, their cocktail list is extensive but nothing you can't work through whilst getting to know the "Alma Ten Commandments".  Head over to the altar for shots and tiki treats on weekends. If you’re in town make sure you hit their big event on a Friday and Saturday night, The Petal Drop. Get here for 10.30 for petals, babes and a bit of Brazilian.
