Barrafina Covent Garden

Barrafina Covent Garden

BARCHICK SAYS

Any London foodie will know Barrafina, famous for its super bustling and hustling Spanish tapas bar vibes, awesome sherry and for being one of the first to do the whole no booking thang. Sure you gotta queue, not even BarChick can queue jump in this gaff but it’s all part of the Spanish experience, plus you can drink sherry while you wait. No problemo.

The latest of the Barrafina instalments has taken Fino’s old spot on Drury Lane in the heart of Covent Garden, it’s a carbon copy of the original Barrafina on Frith Street only with more light. The menu’s similar too (if it ain’t broke): the pan con tomate is still a must, the tortillas will still blow your mind but it’s the soft shell crab and all those daily fish specials and the milk fed lamb you don’t wanna miss.

Everything tastes better after an aperitif, kick off with a simple vermouth and tonic, it’s epic and you’ll probably want at least three. But there is killer wine list and a load of sherry to get through too so be sure to work the drinks menu.
