Having been boarded up for the last 20 years, the squatters have been re-homed, the cobwebs swiped aside and the strip joint has moved to BarChick’s uncle’s pad. Its location is in a bit of a no man’s land between the city and Shoreditch but we all love the odd one out right? Inside it’s all rough brick work alongside oak tables and chairs, nothing too far off a classic boozer but more than enough character.

These guys are big on their beer with some massive vats of Meantime that double up as mirrors to check your look on the way to the terrace. There’s a good range of bottle, cask, tap and they’ve also got micro-distilled vodka and gin which is worth a try; plus there is Prosecco on tap…always a pleasure. If you are a little overwhelmed but the vast choice of ales then you’re in safe hands, get a flight for £8.50 and try 6 of them; deal!

But for us, it’s the garden out back that makes it mega; a large and super vibey space with picnic tables, heaters, potted plants and the crowd is as far off city slicker as you might hope. There’s also foosball and ping pong tables for some light activity, but we turned our attention to the shuttle bus kitchen, a stationary food truck that serves up a shed load of tasty food – snack on BBQ ribs and Bloody Mary seasoned fries which were well up our street.
