BARCHICK SAYS

If you’re prone to the occasional outburst of late night funkiness then you probably hit this place back in the day for its infamous Half Baked parties. Now, the renovated Number 90 has nicer toilets (thank God), a serious back bar and a kitchen you’re gonna want to order brunch from.

This multi-art, canalside treasure isn’t short of spots in which to chill; Chesterfield sofas, communal dining tables and clandestine booth-style seating (if you’d rather hide from the action). There’s something magical about the water-facing terrace too, oversized deckchairs and fairy lights paint a perfectly romantic scene while seating aboard an old barge favours the brave (and the stupid).

The cocktail list is a small but stealthy demonstration of clever infusions and snazzy pairings. We drank the Welcome To Cuba (cigar infused aged rum, beer syrup, tea and fresh lemon juice) but there’s everything from wine, beer and cider to teas, coffees and lattes here. Well worth the journey to Hackney Wick, it’s only a few minutes' stroll from the station, even in heels.
