The Barbary

The Barbary

BARCHICK SAYS

The legends that gave us The Palomar - one of London’s hottest restaurants and BarChick’s fail-safe date night - have done it again. Slap bang in the middle of Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden you'll find The Barbary, constantly at the top of 'foodie's favourites' lists. For good reason too. This place is epic.

It might be a battle for a table, but when you can snack at the standing counter as you wait then who cares? The food is inspired by the Barbary coast (aha), and for all you guys that flunked Geography, these days it's the region of North Africa that stretches from Morocco to Egypt. Think big on grilling and baking with healthy amounts of sumac and za’atar. They're pretty proud of their clay oven, and when you get the most badass bread that we've ever tried - the Naan-e Barbari bread - then you can see why. We'll start the meal with that alongside the Barbary’s Bottle-Aged Negroni, thanks. And then order everything on the menu.

There are 24 seats, and the bookings are only taken at noon and 5pm, otherwise it's walk-in only. Don't be afraid of the queue though, it's totally worth the wait. We’ll race ya down there.
