The Chelsea branch is epic, us BarChicks have been going for years. So it’s no surprise that the new Big Easy is a big hit for Covent Garden. We never doubted them, they signed up some of London’s best bartenders to do the bar, and they've more than delivered.

Upstairs is the 9 meter long bar with over 500 bottles to choose from, it’s the perfect place to get your after work funk on; with loads of standing room and brown spirits. The tables and booths are filled with people stuffing their faces with glorious meat and insane carbs (we’re talking BBQ meat, pulled pork, lobsters and a sh*t load of sides). Whack on a bib, don’t worry about looking pretty – just get stuck in. Wash your food down with one of their many slushies – we were all over the Sazerac one (or try the absinthe one if you think you’re hard enough). Off the booze? Well that root beer float will blow your mind.

Downstairs is where it gets a little more serious and refined. The Shelter has a revised cocktail menu that changes seasonally, with some signature drinks that aren’t available upstairs. Ask for a Birthday Sex, it’s their take on a Sex on the Beach, it’s awesome plus you get to blow out a candle (birthday or no birthday). Down here you can eat bar snacks but not the full menu – but with drinks this good who cares?
