Tonteria is just what Sloane Square has been crying out for…. Head down the stairs into a wooden styled anti room, if the door’s shut you might be momentarily lost, but head left and you’ll enter this Mexican styled den of all things good and bad (bad being the imminent hang over).

It kinda feels like an old wine cellar down here. Tables sit in alcoves around the edge, patches of exposed wall creep through the plasterwork, dried flowers sit pretty above the benches and the bar is a beautiful tiled masterpiece. Look up, a tequila shot train occasionally chugs around the room delivering potions to those who dare brave the working hangover – and come the weekend, it’s on overload.

Drink Margaritas, or go big and whistle in the Tonteria Express or the Serpent of Doom (dangerous if it’s just for 2). The Tonteria is damn tasty with El Jimador Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, agave syrup, fresh lime served frozen with a salt rim, or the Tamarind Margarita with Herradura Blanco tequila, shaken with tamarind, agave, fresh lime and finished with a tajin rim was damn good. Save yourself with some tapas, that squid was serious.

After work drinks, bite with the parents or hot date, this Mexican hangout will always deliver.
