First up, you’ve gotta get a festival pass to be in on the action.  You can get them through DrinkUp London (the people who bring you London Cocktail Week and other boozy festivals in the capital) either through their app or website.

Which bars can you hit up?

There are loads taking part, 75 in fact. But here are our pick of the best gin cocktails to try at some of our favourite bars. [embed]https://youtu.be/ScKnTlXED5w[/embed] 'Running Daisies' at Scout London. It's botanical, light and fresh as hell. Plus you'll be checking out one of London's most talked about new bars. 'Thai Salad Collins' at The Shrub and Shutter. Never had a Thai Salad as a cocktail? It's about time. Spicy, long and kind of a replacement for dinner. Plus it's at our favourite cocktail kitchen where you never quite know what to expect, but you do know it's going to be epic. 'The Wellington' at Worship Street Whistling Shop. This place knows how to knock out a classic, and this twist on a Negroni is as perfect as drinks come. Date night alert. 'Sake Punch' at Cocktail Trading Company. A gin cocktail served in a hand with a shot of sake on the side, pretty much sums this place up. Come here the killer drink, stay all night for the good times. 'Ritual Fire' at Henson's Bar at Mimi's Hotel.  If you like a sour, you've gotta give this a try. It's zesty, frothy and delicious.  Grab an al fresco table out the front for ultimate Soho people watching. Take a look at the full list of bars taking part in World Gin Day here.

  1. Coppa Club Paradise Pods

The perfect spot for summer, if your favourite thing is “outdoors, but not too outdoors”. These gorgeous rooftop pods will let you enjoy all the wonderful views and sunshine of being outside, without things like bug bites or ants getting in the way.  Plus the pods are furnished with individual speakers (so you can blast your own holiday tunes) poufs and palm leaves, which is basically everything you need for optimal Pina Colada enjoyment. There’s even big sliding doors, in case you do decide to brave the fresh air.

  When: Until September http://www.coppaclub.co.uk/towerbridge/
  1. Secret Cinema’s Romeo + Juliet
Brush up on your iambic pentameter, because this year’s Secret Cinema summer theme is distinctly Shakespearean. They’re still being pretty tight lipped on the details of their Romeo + Juliet immersive cinema… but our sources tell us that there’ll be a sunny Verona beach, lots of Leo DiCaprio, and a bar of romantically inclined cocktails worth going for alone.   When:  9th to 19th August https://tickets.secretcinema.org/romeo+juliet/
  1. Clean Air Bar at No 29 Power Station
“Clean” isn’t usually what we’d would describe our vodka experiences as, but No 29 Power Station’s new pop up is here to change that. They’ve teamed up with Ketel One and Patch, the most millennial online plant shop to launch this year (the plants all have names and there’s an SOS phone number for shrubbery-related concerns) to create London’s first clean air bar. It’s a lush leafy space of NASA-certified air-purifying plants, and botanical vodka cocktails so light you’ll leave feeling like a vegan blogger.   When: Until June https://batterseapowerstation.co.uk/whats-on/detail/clean-air-bar
  1. Sassy Cidre at St Pancras Renaissance
Cider, but make it fashion. Sassy Cidre is taking over the St Pancras Hotel bar this June, filling the space with a floral installation, apple trees, and of course, craft cider. As well as your standard pint, there’ll be cocktails that fuse the Normandy cider with floral flavours and masterclasses that include yoga and flower arranging. Look out, cider just got chic.   When: June to August http://www.stpancraslondon.com/en/restaurants-and-bars/sassy-cidre-pop-up-london/
  1. The Cauldron
Admit it, you’ve always wanted to attend potions class. Now you can get your inner Snape on at The Cauldon, a wizarding world themed underground cocktail course from the peeps behind ABQ (the Breaking Bad bar). Because the only way magic could get any better is with booze added. Drinks pour themselves with the tap of your wand, there’s a potions cupboard to raid, and your tinctures smoke, change colour and set alight.   When: until end of July https://thecauldron.io/
  1. Laurent-Perrier Champagne Deck at the Sunborn
Unleash your inner sloane on the Sunborn’s new champagne deck. What’s the Sunborn you ask? Only a yacht permanently moored at Royal Victoria Dock. And the nautical top deck has been commandeered by Laurent-Perrier (naturally dahling) for a celebration of the 50 year anniversary of their cuvée rosé. They’re the captain now, and that means champagne cocktails and lobster arancini for everyone. Grab a glass, sit back and imagine you’re in St Tropez.   When: until 3rd September https://www.sunbornhotels.com/london/restaurant-bar/lp-rooftop-bar/ 7. Peroni Ambra Terrace at Selfridges   Ice cold beer or a vibrant spritz? In the words of Zoidberg, why not both. Peroni’s new aperitivo hybrid, Peroni Ambra is beer blended with Italian Chinotto, a.k.a the answer to your ultimate summer drinking conundrum.  To celebrate, ledge Filippo Previero has created a menu of Ambra cocktails for Selfridges’ ever delightful summer roof terrace, including an “Ambra Spritz”, a fruity, bubbly wonder that gives the original a run for its money.   When: All summer long baby http://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/features/events/alto-by-san-carlo
  1. Roof East
It’s not summer in London if there isn’t some kind of drinking in a rooftop car park involved. Roof East is the best car-park-turned-rooftop-drinking-extravaganza there is. They’ve got an open air cinema, deck chairs, a killer view of the city, and most importantly, a bar, so you don’t have to lug a Sainsbury’s bag full of cans up five flights of steps.   When: They’re open all summer, even when it rains. http://www.roofeast.com/   9. Lost Vegas at Queen of Hoxton   Step into a Los Vegas set in the future when eco-warriors have taken over, at Queen of Hoxton’s rooftop. Think woodstock and Elvis but with cocktails. There’s eco-friendly glitter face painting, boozy ice pops, slot machines, and even an overgrown wedding chapel (complete with photobooth) to drunkenly say “I Do” in, Vegas-style. Or skip the wedding and just enjoy the sunshine and cherry stem and rhubarb G&Ts on tap (turns out everything’s better on tap).   When: Until September http://queenofhoxton.com/venue/
  1. Tanqueray No Ten Chinese Tea Garden at Yauatcha
Tea and gin are a perfect venn diagram of British interests, so this London terrace is inspired. Yauatcha, dim sum palace extraordinaire is hosting Tanqueray Gin in a new Tea Garden, a lush, leafy, lantern-lit utopia of jasmine G&Ts and venison puffs. Expect a rush for this, so book sooner rather than later.   When: Until 14th July http://www.yauatcha.com/city/news/tanqueray-tea-garden/
  1. Mallet & Hoops @ Oxo Tower
London’s first croquet bar has come to the Oxo Tower, and it looks eh-bsolutely spiffing. It’s the place to go if you’re in the mood for pimms, competitive croquet and quintessential British fun. Or if you’re just not quite ready to let go of #RoyalWedding vibes yet.   When: 9th to 12th August https://www.malletsandhoops.com/
  1. 3 Martinis, 300 Oysters with at 68 & Boston
Oh, 68 & Boston, you had us at 300 oysters. In a genius collab with Ford’s Gin for World Gin Day, the bar will be serving a triple threat of Ford’s martinis for only £5 a pop (*bargain klaxon*) and giving away 300 oysters to go with them. Pro tip: offer to help them shuck and you’ll be first in line.   When: 7th June https://drinkup.london/events/19016/3-martinis-300-oysters-with-fords-gin/
  1. Spritz & Giggles
A little slice of the Amalfi Coast has landed in Broadgate Circle. From the Inception Group (you know, the guys behind Mr Foggs, Cahoots and Barts) comes Spritz & Giggles, a summer pop-up bar celebrating all things spritz – a precursor to their launch of the new Mrs Fogg’s bar in the space, a frankly genius way to fill the time until the permanent bar launch. There are definitely worse ways to wait than in a deck chair with a spritz in hand.   When: until Mrs Fogg’s launches https://www.spritzandgiggles.co.uk/   Words by Emma Cooke

An Andy-Warhol from Bartender legend Tony Conigliaro (the dude behind 69 Colebrook Row and Bar Termini) is hiding in Dalston.  Located on Kingsland Road, it’s so edgy, it doesn’t even have a name, just ‘Untitled’. It’s a cocktail/food/art and design mash-up – with hints at Andy’s 60’s-80’s New York studio Silver Factory, with polished concrete and silver walls – so hip it hurts.

In the day, they serve up coffee from London coffee guys Dark Arts, so we won’t judge if you plan a lunch meeting there. But you should be here for the cocktails ‘cos they’re unlike anything you’ve ever tried. There are 12 cocktails on the menu, playing on sight, smell and taste, with abstract names like Snow, Rice and Violin.  Snow is BarChick’s pick; it’s been made to re-create that feeling when winter’s first snow drop hits your tongue.

Seating wise you hang around a centre space, a kind of a floating concrete slab, so prepare to get friendly with your neighbours. Luckily the mind-blowing drinks will give you a damn good talking point.
