BARCHICK SAYS

This is no ordinary East London boozer.  First up, it dates way back to 1666.  Jack The Ripper’s victims used to drink here (grim) and it’s full of weird and wonderful sh*t.  Once you’ve had a swift one in the pub, bypass the real ale and carefully curated brew selection and head upstairs. ‘Cos what you wanna find is at the top of this creeky staircase …tucked away up there is a wicked bar where your night’s about to get a hell of a lot more interesting.

The cocktail bar used to be a restaurant, but a killer hangout has taken its place and we’re seriously stoked. It’s chic for a pub but shabby for a bar; pretty much exactly what you want when Shoreditch is heaving. Candlelight, neon artwork  and a menu that’s got everyone’s back from the wine-heads and cocktail drinkers to the people who didn’t wanna leave the beers behind downstairs.  Clusters of tables, loads of them by big windows, are bang on for group nights out, parties and when you just wanna know you have a seat.

The clincher is the lounge on the top floor, and like all the best things in life, this one is kept for private affairs. The living room you wish you had, it’s all chesterfield couches, brick walls, open fireplaces and killer views of Spitalfields Church up here. The space can hold 25 peeps (Birthday party, sorted),  and they either crack open the booze and leave you to it or you can have a bartender up here to make sure there are no empty glasses.  BarChick’s moving in.
