Sweet Liberty

BARCHICK SAYS

Welcome to Miami, baby!

Although spitting distance from Collins Ave, this joint is practically the antithesis of all things South Beach, while still boasting a level of seriously cook. From the front it looks like a tiny disused trailer shop, but wander past the empty desk, through the double doors and find yourself in a massive warehouse space where the cocktails are king, the food formidable, and the tunes banging till the wee hours.

From legendary bartender/party leader John Lermayer, this place is perfect from slurping down oysters and rose at Happy Hour all the way through drunkenly challenging your friends to shuffleboard/dance offs at 4am. Claim a massive red leather booth and bask in the purple glow from the massive sign with instructions to “Pursue Happiness” while sipping on house concoctions like The Mezcalero with Mezcal Vida, Aperol, Cocci Americano, and grapefruit bitters and stuffing your face with swordfish tacos with a mango salsa. This is a place where locals rub elbows with bartenders and the occasional tourist in the know. The staff like to make sure you’re having as good a time as they are, so be sure to ask about the secret(ish) chef’s table and embrace the spirit.
