A stone’s throw from The Kremlin, The Metropol Hotel is definitely worth a visit. They weren’t going for subtle here, with extravagant marble walls, floors and ceilings, ornate pillars surrounding the bar and stately chairs - which were surprisingly comfortable. This spot is timeless, has had plenty of legendary Russians walk through its doors, and still pulls in the glamorous to the bar every night. This is not a place to hide in the shadows; it is the place to be seen and to see.

Alexander, the attentive barman made BarChick a Stranger in Moscow - a signature cocktail comprised of Absolut Vodka, vanilla vodka, honey, lime juice and ginger mix - served with chocolate and orange crisps. It went down a storm - fresh, zingy and with the orange crisps - something seriously unusual. BarChick’s date went for a good ol’ Bloody Mary which arrived on a silver platter, in a silver laced tankard, accompanied by a silver straw and a silver egg cup with honey and celery. There could not be a better presented Bloody Mary on this planet – you’ll feel like royalty!
