Le Baron

BARCHICK SAYS

It may be one of the harder doors to crack in Paris – you either need a secret password, to know the owner or be effortlessly, eye-wateringly cool – but that does make for a certain satisfaction upon entry, like winning pass the parcel at your own party. This red-tinted boudoir is supremely decadent in a dirty way, and all the more fabulous for it.

Owned by Parisian graffiti artist Andre, don’t think the exclusive label means it’s glitzy – it has a divey, retro glamour. It’s the kind of place vintage pornography could be filmed, which isn’t surprising considering it’s housed in a former bordello. The walls are decorated with 19th century naked pics, the mirrors are two-way and naughty things happen in the dark corners.

It’s pretty tiny, so the dance floor gets sweaty with skinny fashion types listening to DJs spin anything from electro to classics (we had a good rock out to MJ last time we were there) all under a glittering disco ball.

The drinks are super expensive (we suggest you make some friends on one of the tables) and it’s out in the 8th away from the usual party places, but once you’re in, it makes for one hedonistic all-nighter.
