Wanderlust

Wanderlust

BARCHICK SAYS

When you think of river bars in Paris, they’re kinda touristy and overpriced. Well, think again. Wanderlust is a sprawling Seine-side terrace perfect for al fresco partying with the cool kids.

It’s brought to you by the people behind Social Club and Silencio, which gives it instant kudos. Opened in summer 2012, it was meant to be a pop-up for free concerts, entertainment and classes to the masses, but it’s still here with no sign of packing.

Located on the largest terrace in Paris, adjoining the impressive Cité de la Mode et du Design, the massive space includes a restaurant, an open-air cinema, a club and a performance venue. If the sun is out sit in a deck chair and look out over the river lights, or at night turn up for a dance party, usually with an underground DJ playing from inside an illuminated neon cube.

In the daytime, you’ll find everything from vintage markets to children’s costume and craft classes and hip hop lessons to fashion shows. But as the sun goes down, the cool gang comes out (despite it being way out in the 13th arrondissement) and the party gets going until 6am, Wednesday through to Sunday.

NB: Entry is free, but they make up for it with the drink prices...
