The Baxter Inn

BARCHICK SAYS

Voted New Bar of the Year in Australia and 7th best bar in the world, BarChick went to investigate what all the fuss was about.  The website states ‘everyone is welcome – no bookings, no door list, no functions’, that is if you can find it, we got extremely lost down a back alley off Clarence Street.

Enter down the rabbit hole into a magic bar land of whisky heaven, The Baxter Inn is your ultimate hidden booze den.  Like a cool Dad’s library, the walls are covered in boxed photo frames and ornaments, there are thick carpets and candle lit tables, but this library has no books – only 500 types of whisky (our kinda library). The whisky wall is just as impressive as the super sharp bartenders who are ridiculously knowledgeable, friendly and easy on the eye. BarChick indulged in an Old Cuban cocktail made with rum, mint, sparkling wine and lime, while munching down on the pretzels (one of only two food items available). Getting through the whisky master list is a dangerous task on a school night, so expect this prohibition style saloon to make its mark on your liver. The Baxter Inn may be hard to find but it’s worth the challenge, and you will leave loving whisky as much as BarChick does.
