Thought Venice was just about swanky hotels and overpriced cocktails? Think again. Super cool hostel Generator has opened up on Guidecca island, right across from St Mark’s Square, and it's brought some hip traveller vibes with it.

The bar is where it’s at – decorated like some kinda trendy East London loft with Union Jack armchairs, table football and if you're feeling frisky there's always the four poster bed.

The apothecary cabinet even has DJ decks on top for when they host parties. There’s a load of cheap beers and some kick ass cocktails; hit the coffee ones if you need a pick me up. Rumour has it the food is bang on too (and at traveller prices).

If you’re travelling solo, or just out on the pull, this bar is the epicentre in this city if you're looking for new friends. Challenge them to down Generator’s ‘Italian shots’, kick back canalside with a bottle of beer and dip your feet in the water, whatever you do don't leave in a hurry.
