Battersea Park, SW11

Battersea Park is like the gift that keeps on giving: it’s got pedalos, meerkats and even a Peace Pagoda; they also always pull out all the stops on Bonfire Night. Last year, spectators were wowed with laser shows and a fantastic display synchronized with some great beats, and this year it’s set to be even better. Do arrive hungry and thirsty: they’ve got bars and food with everything from fish and chips to hog roasts. Get involved but you gotta get tickets, it's always a sell-out. This is one of the originals - and this year the skies of Crystal Palace will be being lit up for the 150th time. That's right, anniversary time. Kids show at 7 but the fun starts at 8.30 with big bangers and big tunes.  Although there's no funfair this year we'll be stuffing our face by the food stalls and swigging sloe gin from our hipflask.
