A New Gin Pop Up In Shoreditch: 1821

Sour grapes? Not cool. Sour cherries? Different story altogether, especially in the new Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin, found at Bar 1821 in Shoreditch. A delicious new gin. A v.cool pop up in Shoreditch. An excuse to go all Italian and snack before dinner. Bellissimo.   Head to the new Bar 1821 Luxardo pop-up and get your hands on Luxardo’s brand new and damn right delicious new Sour Cherry Gin.  It’s the only place you can try this hot new bottle until it’s full launch in September.  It’s also the only sour cherry gin that is widely available in the world. So if you’re into gin – I’d get down here pronto.

The name 1821 was the year Luxardo was founded so to celebrate the newest gin in their gang they’ve created an Italian piazza style space for you to sip on their finest creations.

This'll give you a little taste:

The best things come in small packages (OK except gin) and what this cosy little spot lacks in space it makes up for in character.  Climbing plants, bright walls and vintage posters give the whole place that laid-back rustic vibe.

Upstairs think big windows, high tables and sharing boards & chicchetti from swanky Kensington Restaurant Enoteca Rosso – the perfect spot for a Sour Cherry G&T.

When things get a little more serious, hit the basement. This is where Luxardo legend ‘G’ is hosting master classes so you can learn from the best how to stir up your own Italian creations.  If you then fancy attempting some mixology at home, pop your cherry and grab a bottle from 31Dover.com (the only place you can get hold of it) for some hands-on fun. Down in the basement the drinks get a little more serious too - BarChick will most likely be sinking a Cherry Martinez or two.  Making the most of the fine new Sour Cherry Gin, this twisted Martinez also has a sweet hit from Luxardo Maraschino and a rich depth from Cocchi Torino. Pow. The best bit? At the bottom of your coupe you’ll find one of those booze-soaked Maraschino cherries. Happy endings all round.

Want something with slightly less of a kick? Cherry Springer combines lemon, mint and chocolate bitters for a fragrant and playful summer sip that looks like liquid amber. Pretty as a picture and packing a ton of tastiness. The G&Ts are £6 each and the cocktails are £7 - so it's likely you'll work your way through the whole menu. The Luxardo 1821 bar runs Wednesdays to Sundays until 9 September 2018, 3pm-11pm.
