Your Cocktail Agenda For August

As if August wasn't hot enough already, here's your rundown of the best boozy happenings in London.

Cocktails served in parrots, a boozy competition where you're the judge, Kendall Jenner Margaritas for under a tenner and a Press For Idris button... August, you're turning up the HEAT.

Sushi & Champagne amongst the flowers

What: If blooms, bubbles and banging Japanese cuisine is your vibe, then baby, do we have a treat for you. Shimmy on down to Landmark London, where they've transformed their Champagne Bar into a whimsical flower haven with the help of award-winning florist Mary Jane Vaughan. This Art Deco hotel already gets A+ in the aesthetic credentials, but now it's somehow even more stunning. The Omaske sushi plate is equally pretty; we defy you not to take a pic before tucking in. Try the Imperial Blossom - a heady mix of vodka, yuzu saké, lemon juice and toasted rice syrup, topped with Champagne Lallier. Blooming lovely.

When: Tuesday – Sunday throughout August

Where: The Landmark London, 222 Marylebone Rd, London NW1 6JQ

Amazonian River-themed cocktails

What: When it's time to get tropical, there's no better place than Amazónico - the jungle-themed hotspot in the playground of the rich & famous known as Mayfair. This is a feast for the senses - from the extravagant light fittings to the peacock hanging round by the entrance. Their innovative new cocktail menu will take you on a river voyage through the Amazon, with highlights like the rum-soaked, Piña Colada-esque Tigre (that arrives concealed inside a pineapple, no less) and the Tapajos, which brings the crystal clarity of this tributary to your table, masked inside a Macaw. Pro tip: don't ignore the bar snacks. The Wagyu beef empanadas are the perfect accompaniment to your journey.

When: All through August

Where: Amazónico, 10 Berkeley Square, London W1J 6BR

£1 Oysters with a frozen martini

What: If there's one thing that's going to get us away from the industrial fan during a heatwave, it's an ice-cold cocktail. Chuck in some shucking good oysters for a mere £1 a pop and we're there. Swing to Little Bat between 5 and 8pm, and you can swallow a scrumptious mollusc with your martini for a bargain price. Need more reason to visit? Little Bat also has a Summer Spritz menu, such as the Excalibur (gin, Midori and prosecco). We're there.

When: Little Bat £1 oysters (served with a shallot vinaigrette), available alongside any cocktail or glass of Champagne ordered between 5-8pm throughout August.

Where: Little Bat, Islington. 54 Islington Park St, London N1 1QL

Michelin star lunch for under £50

What: Celebrating a special occasion but not feeling quite as flush as you'd like? We've got you covered. Michelin-starred restaurant Galvin La Chapelle is treating guests to an incredible lunch deal, with two courses for only £49 - think Duck liver Royal with cocoa soil, followed by Potato gnocchi with truffle cream. Chuck in a dessert for the £55 menu - they have their very own version of a Watermelon daiquiri made from Pimm’s, strawberry and kaffir lime that's the ultimate wrap-up dish. It's the perfect way to indulge without baulking at the credit card bill.

When: Lunchtimes 12-3pm through August

Where: Galvin La Chapelle, 35 Spital Square, London E1 6DY

Hot Jazz and cool cocktails in Covent Garden

What: If the temperature isn't el scorchio enough for you, here's another way to up the heat - head to Hot Jazz at Oriole. Every Thursday, descend to the plush restaurant beneath the Bamboo Bar, and see the space transformed into a sexy, sultry 'Hot Club'. Shimmy in your seat to live performances of blues, jazz, swing and Italian music over dishes that celebrate the fusion cuisines of Latin America (we're a sucker for the Sea bass ceviche with amarillo leche de tigre). Cocktails have as much flair as the music, with the mezcal-forward Cities of the Plain bringing tempting Tex-Mex smokiness to your taste buds.

When: Every Thursday 8-10pm throughout August.

Where: Oriole, Covent Garden. 7-9 Slingsby Pl, London WC2E 9AB

Banging beetroot margarita in Soho

What: Wanna mix up your Margarita? Keen to get creative with your summertime cocktail? Soho's Latin American restaurant Sucre has you covered. They're delighting tequila fans with their bold Margarita menu in their sexy subterranean bar, delivering an exceptional twist each month. If you missed July's Avocado Coconut Margarita, then fear not - August brings the Beet Syrup Margarita to the yard, with this radical root vegetable lending an earthy tone to our fave drink - and a striking purple colour to boot. You can't 'beet' it.

When: Beet Syrup Margarita available throughout August

Press for Idris

What: Say no more, Bob Bob Ricard - we're there. Sadly, the iconic button doesn't conjure the dreamy Luther actor to the table, but it's almost the next best thing... use it to indulge in a decadent menu including an exclusive drink created in collaboration with Idris Elba's Porte Noire - a classic Champagne cocktail with Porte Noire Brut, Porte Noire Cognac VSOP, angostura bitters and a sugar cube. The luxury doesn't stop there. To celebrate grouse season, the collaboration features a selection of delicious pies, including a Porte Noire Champagne and Chicken Pie and a Porte Noire Champagne and Truffle Pie. Oof, Idris, you're spoiling us...

When: From 12th August to mark the start of Glorious Twelfth.

Where: Bob Bob Ricard, 1 Upper James Street, Soho, London W1F 9DF

For £25pp you get to try both competing cocktails (tasted blind for impartial judging), plus a choice of bar snacks. The power is in your hands...
