Hot New Openings Around the Globe - March 2015

New York - Belle Reve

The guys that brought Employees Only, Soho House, Exchange Alley and Macao Trading to NYC, have a new kid on the block: Belle Reve (which means ‘beautiful dream’ just FYI). Two things you need to know; every drop of booze will be amazing, and things are about to get rowdy up in here. With a heap of instruments propped on top of the bar, you can start up a jamming sesh whilst sipping that Aperol; there’ll be professionals doing it too just in case you ain’t all that on the bongos. 305 Church Street, New York, NY 10013 HNO.BELLE.REVE New York - The Camlin Drinking wine and eating cheese are just two of life’s most beautiful pastimes and at The Camlin they’re at it all damn day. With some sleek décor going on around you, prop up the marble bar or keep things down low at the banquettes. Wherever you’re parked, check out the menu that spans a whole chalkboard wall. Hit the dairy, sip the vino and lose hours to the good life. 175 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211 New York - Seamstress What do you get when you cross the mad cocktail making babe from Dead Rabbit and the hearty food guys from Gilroy? Seamstress, obv. The food is bound to get heavy on the carbs (our favourite) and the drinks are flat out guaranteed to be seriously special. This one’s for keeps. 339 East 75th Street, New York, NY 10021 HNO.SEAMSTRESS New York - Lazy Point Gin cocktails and gorgeous sharing plates are what Lazy Point’s all about, they’re even making vegetables look good - and chucking them in your booze too because that’s still a thing. The decor is bright and sunny with stripy banquettes and ocean blue flooring. Go grab your boozy five-a-day and get lazy. 310 Spring Street, New York, NY 10013 Chicago - Tapworks Tavern & Grill Q: What could go wrong with a bunch of whiskey bottles, a buffalo head hanging on the wall and goddamn BEER CHEESE? A: Worry about that in the morning. Tapworks Tavern & Grill is all smoked pork, huge turkey legs, rib tips… basically all kinds of meat being washed down with bourbon and beer. Like we said, what could go wrong?! 820 West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, Illinois 60607 HNO.TAPWORKS Washington - The Alex As if we weren’t already totally into hotel bars, The Alex has opened up with its steampunk antiques, Victorian vibes and has upped the hotel bar game. Downstairs you’ll find this dark little cove of happy hours, old piano parts, brass pipes and tables made out of retro radiators. You can get some love seat action in the back too if you and your date wanna keep things behind a curtain, naughty. The Graham Georgetown, 1075 Thomas Jefferson Street NW, Washington, DC 20007 Los Angeles – Augustine There’s a major post-war Parisian feel at this old-world wine and beer bar with its retro radios, old journals and chic filles et garçons aplenty. The white marble bar takes centre stage in the middle of the room so pull up a chair and throw yourself into the wine menu. They’ve got some proper “good stuff” on the list and when you’ve knocked back one too many glasses of 1959 Chateau Mouton Rothschild there’s tater tots (deep fried potato goodness), because why not. 13456 Ventura Boulevard, Sherman Oaks, California 91423 HNO.AUGUSTINE Los Angeles - Little Easy Ever in LA but crave New Orleans? Well Little Easy has popped up at Downtown’s Alexandria Hotel and it’s jampacked with New Orleans, stuffed alligator, damask vibes. Order up the Sazeracs, hit the gumbo and let the good times roll to the soul beats. Get down the twisty hallway and pick a side – left is patio porch swings, right is red-curtained illicitness. Sh*t’s about to get cray. 216 5th Street, Los Angeles, California 90013

Hong Kong – Alibi The newest bar at Mongkok’s Langham Place Hotel is all about elegant cocktails followed by ridiculous Spanish-inspired delicacies. The decor is some kinda funky mix of rustic yet sleek and the space is big enough to hold a bigass hot crowd. HK wining and dining just went up a level. 5/F Langham Place Hotel, 555 Shanghai Street, Mongkok, Hong Kong HNO.ALIBI

Sydney – Peekaboo Sydney’s bar scene of small spots is seriously hotting up but thumbs down to them being so small that you can never get in there. Peekaboo is one helluva babe and while it may not be as totes sophist as its neighbours, it’s where the cool kids are at so push your way inside. If you’re on date night, head past the mural of old Hollywood c’lebs and get down in the even smaller hidden room to the left. The cocktails are hot, the wine can be paired with cheese, obv, and there’s a beer selection too. Good luck finding a seat. 120 Bourke Street, Woolloomooloo, Sydney, Australia HNO.PEEKABOO

Paris – Le Syndicat Behind what looks like an abandoned store covered in posters lies the city’s newest secret cocktail haunt, already loved by Parisiens. It’s all muted lights and mystery in this little speakeasy but the best stuff is going down behind the bar – these guys are masters in the art of magnificent boozing. This is one spot you’re gonna have to be booted out of. 51, Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis, 75010 Paris London – London Grind The fourth of Grind & Co’s banging coffee haunts has downed its beans South of the river. Expect the same Espresso Martinis and Hot Flat White Russians of Shoreditch, Soho and Holborn that will blow your mind, but don’t go with a full stomach. They’ve got their eyes on the food here too – hello brunch ‘til 11pm. 2 London Bridge, London SE1 9RA LONDON_GRIND_20 (1) London – The Fourteenth Colonie What once was Giant Robot is now transformed into this epic cocktail bar with total NY vibes. You can get your serious American brunch on here with pumpkin waffles and Nutella French toast – as well as craft beer and a great wine selection. This could be the first of eight possible venues opening up across the city so make sure you’ve checked it out before the second pops up. 45 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1M 5RS London - West Thirty Six This three storey cocktail haven is exactly what you’d expect of a members bar in this part of town; leather banquettes, chunky wooden bars and a phat-country-house-sitting-room. Fight over the Chesterfields or hit the terrace before working your way up to the next floor. Up at the very top is some kinda secret but word on the street is it’s private and oh-so sexy. If you like it outdoors, make a trip to the Tool Shed, grab a cocktail and get naughty. 36 Golborne Road, North Kensington, London W10 5PR west.thirty.six London – Dead Dolls Club, Islington Setting up in the old House of Wolf spot is Dead Dolls Club, a very naughty members only bar which is big on booze, food and late-night fun. They’re rocking an Espresso Martini bar to pick you up and f*ck you up so get yourself on the boozy caffeine and start the night buzzing. 181 Upper Street, London N1 1RQ
