A festival for meat and booze lovers alike, the smoking hot sensation that is Meatopia will take place at Tobacco Dock for the second year running. Having originated in the States, a glittering line-up of chefs from around the world will show up to smoke and BBQ their way to your hearts. There’ll be no butane, no propane, no convection and certainly no microwave nonsense here. Just nothing but meat cooked only over logs or hardwood charcoal.
Dishes range from a whole Dexter cow to tacos, burgers, ribs, pimped up crispy cakes and bacon gelato, and ‘tasting’ sized portions will be sizzled up by Andre Lima de Luca from Brazil, Home Team BBQ from the States, Zan from Bleecker Burger, Daniel Doherty from Duck and Waffle, Richard Sandiford and Richard Turner from the Hawksmoor to name but a few. Every piece of meat on offer will have been raised naturally, lived the best of lives and be totally and utterly hormone, anti-biotic and cruelty free, as well as being ethically sourced.
Naturally there will be tons of booze with which to wash down all that meaty goodness. Expect craft beers, fine wine and aged spirit as well as a pop-up barber salon from Sailor Jerry, boom. Kicking off at 12:30 there’ll be beats from Norman Jay MBE, Gizzi Erskine and Tom Findley amonsg many, many more, and by the time the doors close at 9pm you’ll be ready to party like a mean, lean drinking machine.
