RumFest has been going for a good nine years now and is considered THE biggest rum party of the year. For the first time ever there will be a whole seven days warm up that they’re calling Rum Experience Week (aka #rumweek). We're thinking it should be a new national holiday.
In addition to all the rum, there will be plenty of educational action with days and nights full of dinners, tastings, parties and classes from the likes of the founder Ian Burrell (Global Rum Ambassador) and other inspirational rum masters from around the world.
Here are just some of the events you shouldn't miss!
There ain't no party like a rum party and to launch Rum Experience Week they’re holding a party with Lambs Rum at Voltaire (Blackfriars). Back in the day these old vaults used to hold everything from prisioners to treasure. Sexy.
This is the first chance to taste a limited edition batch of Lamb’s single cask rum. Like you needed an excuse.
Voltaire, 19 New Bridge St, London EC4V 6DB// Monday 12th October // 7pm – 11pm
A very traditional pairing, the classic combo of rum and cigars goes back centuries. Romeo y Julieta, established in 1875 and apparently Churchill’s favourite brand of smokes, will be providing the cigars to be matched with tastings of Don Q Gran Anejo and Ron de Jeremy XO rums. Experts from the rum and cigar communities will be presenting each pairing.
Various Locations over the week // Time TBA
With only 40 spaces available, it doesn't get much more exclusive than this. Join four of the most renown rum masters and some of the world's most exquisite Christie's art for dinner and a tasting of four exclusive rums. Around the table will be Ian Burrell (Global Rum Ambassador), David Elswood (Head of Wine Sales and Principal Auctioneer), Luca Gargano (President of Velier), David Morrison (Senior Blender at J Wray & Nephew and Richard Seal (Master Distller at Foursquare Distillery) who will guide you through unique tasting of four exclusive rums that will be auctioned off at this years RumFest. What will you all talk about? Rum probably.
