Pubs with Cocktails

Boyfriend wants pints? Girlfriend wants cocktails? (And no, a G&T does not count no matter how hard you try). We’ve got the solution, and it doesn’t involve an All Bar One, it involves some awesome pubs. BarChick’s found the best out there that serve up a healthy side of cocktails alongside the usual pint and packet of peanuts. Everyone’s happy and you can even bring the dog too!

The Three Crowns

The Three Crowns is a sexed up old school boozer. The restaurant boasts an open kitchen so you can watch the magic happen, and the bar has got a serious selection of bottles. Order a Gimlet with your pie and mash and swap pudding for a Negroni.

8 East Road, London, N1 6AD

The Spread Eagle

A good pub to put your feet up in after a walk around Regent’s Park. Whether it’s afternoon tea, a burger or some pints you’re after, they’ll happily sort you out. Hit it in the evening for Negronis and Espresso Martinis, and get spread eagled yourself.

141 Albert Street, Camden Town, London, NW1 7NB

The Hunter S

The Hunter S is a bad ass boozer, named after the main man Hunter S Thompson himself. Settle into a Chesterfield under the copper ceiling amongst taxidermy and get stuck into the cocktails. You’ll have to go off menu but they’ll happily whip you up a Negroni or an Old Fashioned, just don’t go asking for a Pina Colada otherwise they’ll show you the door.

194 Southgate Road, London, N1 3HT

The Spaniards Inn

The ultimate pub to warm up in after a hard session on Hampstead Heath. Settle in by the roaring fire and get them to make you a hot cocktail. Don’t go asking for a S*x on the Beach, we’re talking Hot Toddies, mulled wine and very spicy Bloody Marys. There’s even a dog wash for your pooch.

Spaniards Road, Hampstead, London, NW1 7JJ

The Admiral Codrington

This is a good old local boozer, but swap the haggard locals for a bunch of suited and booted guys and gals and that’s the crowd you’re up against. Out back there’s a fancy restaurant (big up their burgers!), and the rest is a buzzing pub and garden. They’ve got some good seasonal cocktails; crisp and refreshing in summer, and warm and boozy in winter, and don’t neglect the bar snacks, hello Welsh rarebit.

17 Mossop Street, London, SW3 2LY

The Cadogan Arms

Fine dining, pub grub, pints with the lads; these guys have got it covered. They’ve also got a billiards room with three tables and table tennis so you can get boozy while you exercise. And hey, who says you can’t have a Lemon Pie Martini in hand as you take your next shot. Give these cocktails a shot; with shrubs, foams and other intriguing ingredients, they’re mega.

298 King’s Road, London, SW3 5UG

The Hollywood Arms

It may not be Hollywood, but it’s as close as you’re going to get in this neck of the woods. Acoustic nights, quiz night, seasonal British grub… whatever takes your fancy snap to it in double quick time with a few of their Espresso Margaritas, just what the doctor ordered.

45 Hollywood Road, London, SW10 9HX

The Clock House

One of the more ‘girly’ looking pubs on offer, so it’s no surprise that they offer up a menu of ‘clocktails’ as they call them (plus it would be a shame to miss out on that pun). Whether you’re a Time Waster, Always late, or you wear a Rolex, they’ve got something for you.

196a Peckham Rye, Dulwich, London, SE22 9QA

Rose Public House

Any pub that does barrel aged cocktails is fine by BarChick. Forget following tourists and t*rts up The Shard, this is where you wanna get stuck in. With mouth-watering Scotch eggs, beef dripping on toast and barrel aged cocktails like Negronis and Manhattans. Cheers.

123 Snowsfields, London, SE1 3ST

The Jugged Hare

Step inside The Jugged Hare and you’ll find a little pocket of countryside in the heart of London. They’re big into their taxidermy, seasonal game and wine thanks to their mega wine dispenser. Sit up at the bar amongst badgers and foxes and ask the bartender to whip you up whatever you fancy, these guys aren’t afraid to get creative and they’ve got the bottle to do it (literally).

49 Chiswell Street, London, EC1Y 4SA

The Sun Tavern

Cocktails in Bethnal Green? Go on. The Sun Tavern has been seriously sexed up by the dudes from The Discount Suit Company with its exposed brickwork, super shiny copper bar and the whale music in the loos (no joke). Say yes to a tankard of Negroni and bring along your whole record collection, each one is a cocktail on them.

441 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2 0AN

The Cat & Mutton

The Cat & Mutton is a pretty legendary boozer, but we ain’t here for the beer. Head upstairs to their cocktail bar and work your way through the epic menu; Purple Rain, Fig Fizz and Bloody Rubys. Yes please!

76 Broadway Market, London, E8 4QJ

The Truscott Arms

First up, if you wanna get roasted, this is up there with the best in London. This pub screams out for a session; it’s inviting, has delicious food and a well-stocked bar. Tuck into their Bloody Mary which comes with all the trimmings if your head is crying out from the night before, or go for the Almond Martini if you really wanna go nuts.

55 Shirland Road, London, W9 2JD

The Princess Victoria

Or the ‘PV’ if you wanna be down with the locals. This former gin palace is the gift that keeps on giving; their steaks are badass, they mascerate all kinds of flavours into their gin and their wine list is seriously expert. Swap pudding for an Apple Pie Martini; go on, we dare you.

217 Uxbridge Road, London, W12 9DH

The Mall Tavern

This is a good local boozer for all the NH set. Whether it’s a Sunday roast, pints with the lads or date night, this place ticks all the boxes. Tuck into their ‘Malltails’, they’ve got everything from Negronis to Bellinis.

71 – 73 Palace Terrace Gardens, London, W8 4RU
