Simone Carporale's Top Five London Bars

The Connaught bar

Snap! This is BarChick’s favourite hotel bar too. It mixes glam, Art Deco, a David Collins designed interior and divine existence. Having a bad day? The Connaught will bring you right up to scratch... we especially love the welcome drink on arrival, the bar snacks and the double frozen ice in our Martini.

Dandelyan

Since Dandelyan opened in the Sea Containers building, now the Mondrian Hotel, it rocked the world of hotel bars and sits up there with the best of them! A lot of this is down to the slick Tom Dixon design, but most importantly the drinks menu has been created by Ryan Cheti and his team of talented bartenders and it's killer. It's packed with botanical ingredients; some of the cocktails are even made without alcohol and just as good. Everything on that menu is delicious.

Peg and Patriot

There's a triangle of Bethnal Green bars and this place sits in that trio. The drinks are geeky, something we can truly get down and dirty with, especially when the likes of mezcal, seaweed distillate, grapefruit sherbet and samphire are thrown together to taste so badass. Behind them is the Talented Mr Fox; he's renowned for his creative consultancy so if you're really keen you can follow his drinks around town.

The Edition Hotel

With three bars to choose from, it’s hard to go wrong in this place. Kick back in Berners Tavern surrounded by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton's food. Hit the hidden Punch Room at the back for serious punch and sexy times or just hang at the lobby bar for a people watching session!

Dukes

It’s all about the Martini in here, good and proper, and no more than three is the rule. Mixed up by the wonderful Alejandro and served from a beautiful Martini trolley alongside a side of olives or nuts to make sure you don’t wobble on the way out. Tucked in behind The Wolseley, it’s the perfect secret place for a pick-me-up before dinner.
