The Best Places To Take Dad Out

Dad's in town; whether you need to borrow money, ask advice, just want a big hug, or there's a game on the box - whatever it is we've got the best places to take Daddio out on the tiles.

 The Ginstitute

Sick of being asked for grandkids? Take your dad to The Ginstitute on Portobello Road to create a baby that doesn't cry or ask for money - your own gin. The Ginstitute is home to the world's second smallest museum (gin focused, natch) and tickets include a G&T, a Tom Collins, a Martini, a bottle of their Portobello Road Gin & your own bottled, labelled creation. They'll even keep the recipe on file for re-ordering, so that's Father's Day, Birthday & Christmas gifts taken care of for the next 20 years.

171 Portobello Road, London, W11 2DY

City Social

If dad likes it high, take him up to Jason Atherton’s newest restaurant on the 24th floor of Tower 42. It’s an Art Deco paradise with killer views, so dress up, sit window-side and gaze out at The Gherkin, The Shard and The City. The drinks are fantastic, as is the British menu. Order the Ploughman’s basket and they’ll set you up with a checkered blanket, mini Scotch eggs and goat cheese churros. It’s like a picnic in the sky. Go on a Saturday afternoon and listen to live jazz in the bar area.

Tower 42, Old Broad Street, London, EC2N 1HQ

Duke’s Bar

If papa is all about tuxedos, fast cars, fly watches and discretion then only this place will do my friend. It’s home to the Vesper Martini, and is the place for Bond aficionados. Just hope Alessandro is there to serve you.

35-36 Saint James’s Place, London, SW1A 1NY

Bradley's Spanish Bar

So you're broke, dad's broke, or someones's not coughing up. Whatever the case it's on you to deliver, well it's time for Bradley's Spanish Bar. A London institution; they show the games, they have a juke box, they have awesome cheap Spanish beers and hot Spanish chicks knocking about, dad will be happy.

42 Hanway Street, London, W1T 1UT

Evans and Peel

So dad loves a good crime novel, is a Cluedo lover or perhaps he works in law. Either way Evans and Peel is the place for him. Book an appointment and rest your case with the detective. Whilst he considers your case, you will be treated to fine cocktails, and awesome smoked meats. Problem solved.

310c Earls Court Road, London, SW5 9BA

Scarfe’s Bar at the Rosewood

This hotel bar is on the chilled side of sophisticated, with giant couches to sink into, a menu of killer curries and a roaring fireplace. The staff will spoil you and the huge whisky menu will make any dad’s day.

252 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7EN

Duke’s Brew and Que

Beer and BBQ heaven, hello, what’s not to love? This place ticks the man time box just perfectly… there’s even a brewery bang smack in the middle of the room, yes Beavertown. Get a round of pints, sliders and ribs, and then some.

33 Downham Road, De Beauvoir Town, Hackney, London, N1 5AA

Blues Kitchen Shoreditch

USA is A OK. If dad’s from across the pond or he just loves the all American way, then head to the brand new Blues Kitchen. This rib-loving, lobster-cracking, hurricane slinging hangout is a must. Not only will dad love the food and drink, but he might like the live music they have here too.

332-334 Kings Road, Chelsea, London, SW3 5UR

Whisky Tasting Experience at the London Eye

Wanna get high and drink whisky with your dad? Take him on the London Eye and be guided through Vinopolis Whisky Tasting Experience, tasting five varieties of fine whiskies. Nibbles are provided and if you’re looking for something a little more spenny but a whole lot more sassy then book your own private capsule complete with your own personal expert from Vinopolis.
