Your November Hot List

November: the month of exclaiming ‘where the hell has this year gone?’ to anyone that will listen...

... Deciding if you can be arsed with an overpriced, overcrowded fireworks display, and eating as many green things as possible before Christmas and its diet of Champagne and canapés rolls around.

Also the month of a bunch of epic new openings, killer pop-ups and dreamy events. Forget staying in with your Slanket, you’re a badass creature of the night and these wintery evenings don’t scare you.

Opens 1st November

Hands up who loves New Zealand wine? This one's for you. Melanie Brown set up New Zealand Cellar, so she knows her onions - or should we say Marlborough grapes. The Laundry is a neighbourhood bistro and hangout with antique mirrors, vintage furniture and emerald green hues - sounds like our kinda joint. Aussi chef Dylan Cashman will be cooking up a storm with funked-up classics (think beef tartar with fermented chili and beer pickled onion). Maybe not for November - but certainly on our radar - is the south-facing terrace. Total Parisian people-watching vibes in South London - good times.

374 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, SW9 8PL

Opens 1st November

Craving California but got a budget that means you're not leaving Britain this side of 2020? We feel ya. Join us in sashaying over to Soho where you'll find SO|LA. So for Soho, La for Los Angeles, geddit? It's not just the promise of Key Lime Baked Alaska that's getting us excited (although #dessertgoals right there). The wine list focuses on California wine-country - all kinds of awesome. We're wining and dining ourselves to those summer feels,

64 Dean Street, Soho, W1D 4QQ

Opens 7th November

All aboard - we're getting on the booze train, straight to party town. Following on from the original (and seriously awesome) Cahoots in Carnaby, this new bar merges 1940s time-travel and transportation to create an epic war-time drinking experience. This time they’re avoiding the London Underground (sorry Dianne Abbott) and taking the party to the railway tracks.  Enter via the Ticket Hall - think period train schedules and a vintage kiosk in amongst the kind of comfy armchairs and ornate lamps your nan would approve of. Take a closer look though, cos the Ticket Hall is just a frontage for a secret bar behind called the Control Room.  Here's where it all gets a little wavy - fermented cocktails, flashing red lights and drinks served from the waiter’s trench coat. Prepare for your night to go off the rails…

5 Kingly Street, Soho, W1B 5PF

Opens 9th November

Hey, if it's good enough for Posh & Becks, it's good enough for BarChick. Madrid's Amazonian-inspired hotspot is coming to Mayfair, and baby we're ready for it. Prepare for jungle fever as you embark on a sensory journey that takes guests along the flow of the Amazon river. Sounds all kinds of wild. Explore the best bits of Latin American cuisine, from cachaça cocktails to Peruvian sushi, in a lush dining room so foliage-filled you'll wonder if you need your mossie spray.

10 Berkley Square

Opens 12th November

Wanna get schooled on sake? Consider this your booze 101 when it comes to Japan's national beverage. Frankly, BarChick can't think of a better classroom than Moto. Expect to find independent craft sakes and Japanese spirits sourced direct from breweries, as well as tasting flights for those who wanna get their geek on. If you've only ever enjoyed sake with sushi, this'll also be an eye (and mouth) opener. The team has come up with contemporary snacks from East and West that change seasonally as new flavour pairings are discovered. Yum.

7 Maiden Lane, Covent Garden, WC2E 7NA

Open 12th November

If you've visited any of the other Ivy Brasseries or Cafes then you'll know the deal already. Art-Deco dazzle, interiors to die for and bags of swank make these spin-offs just as sexy as the original. Victoria is the lucky location to be blessed with the next Ivy opening, and it's gonna kick ass. You'll find us luxing it up at the striking bar - BarChick can't resist the promise of an 'exotic' cocktail list. When summer rolls round there's even a balcony and an alfresco terrace (can't wait that long? No biggie,  just get cosy under the heaters). With DJs, a sick private dining space and a refined brasserie menu, it's our new 'suits all occasions' hotspot.

66 Victoria St, Westminster, London SW1E 6SQ

1st November - 25th January 2020

Strap on your skates and wrap up baby, we’re going sky high to get that perfect winter buzz. Welcome to Europe’s only real-ice rooftop ice rink - cos like diamonds and Dolce, only the real deal will do. From 1st November, Skylight London will be keeping things seriously cool with its urban après skate bar theme. We’re talking rooftop igloos to get cosy with your winter hun, cocktails to warm your cockles, DJs, street food, and some of the sickest views of London. What more could you want? Ice hockey shooting? Sure, why not. It’s nearly Christmas, after all.

Skylight Rooftop, Pennington Street Car Park Entrance, Wapping, London, E1W2SF

Until November 12th

Time to make the most of the changing season in the best way we know how - finding a dreamy bar decked out in autumn flair, and get drinking. Until November 12th Dalloway Terrace is channeling gilded glamour, and they've struck gold. It's undeniably one of the most beautiful bars in London, so no wonder BarChick feels at home. For their autumn installation they've partnered with Æcorn, the world’s first range of non-alcoholic aperitifs. So you can get your sip on without worrying about the fact you have that presentation/dog to walk/gym class tomorrow morning. Go for the non-alcoholic NOGRONI or their cider-spiked Sweet But Sassy, for real autumn attitude.

16-22 Great Russell St, Fitzrovia, London WC1B 3NN

Opens 7th November

BarChick loves a drop of the pink stuff, but even we're yet to drink fizz in a building that's actually lit up the colour of Rosé Champagne. Well, there's a first time for everything, cos this Christmas season the whole of Sea Containers London is glowing like an embarrassed flamingo. Whizz up the lift to 12th Knot, where you'll find a very chic pop-up that's a collaboration with Laurent-Perrier Champagne. Snuggle up under blankets on the roof terrace, or it won't just be the awesome views giving you chills. With its twinkling lights and special Champagne cocktails, Rosé On The Roof has raised the bar in romantic residences.

20 Upper Ground, South Bank, London SE1 9PD

Opens 7th November

Less flatpack furniture, Mama Mia and Nordic Noir TV, more snow-dusted fir trees in an enchanted winter wonderland. We expect nothing less from premium vodka Absolut Elyx combining festive force with one of London’s swankiest hotels. The Elyx Chalet at Rosewood London is a chance to shimmy to Southern Sweden, sinking their twist on Glögg while you’re at it. Sumptuous cushions and chic faux-fur throws make this luxe lodge one of the cosiest cocktail spots around.

The Elyx Chalet at Rosewood London will be open 4pm till late, every day.

Throughout November

Sure, sipping spiced cider al fresco with a view of The Shard might make for awesome views, but BarChick's not wild about hypothermia. We're not the only ones covering up for the cold - Vinegar Yard is also turning cosy with some much-appreciated heated tent action. Get involved with the stellar street-food line-up (Baba G's Indian burgers, get in our face) and mulled wine, along with blankets to stop any blue fingers and toes.

Not only that, but now you can take a trip back to the 70s via that cult-classic, Abigail's Party. Hidden inside the warehouse you'll find funky cocktail bar Abigail's. The vintage vibes are strong - backgammon boards, spider plants, record players and rugs all make this a snug seventies shag-pad. For cocktails, things are classic and concise, with a house signature Espresso Martini and Negronis on the menu. Ready, set, retro: this is one party we wanna join.

The bar will be open until late every Wednesday to Saturday evening, and is available for exclusive hire all week (max capacity 75 people).

St Thomas Street, London Bridge, London, SE1 3QU
