A tiny bar with a big-ass gin selection, Xixbar (pronounced Chicksbar) is the place to go if you’ve got a thing for those juicy little juniper berries.
Blue tiles and a few cow murals reflect this venues roots; it used to be a dairy and you can kinda tell. A scattering of simple tables line the edges of the room but if you really want to get your nerd on you should perch at the bar, in front of the home brewed bottles of gin and sample flavours such as hibiscus and cinnamon. If you’re looking for a bit of privacy or you’re partial to a drop of red lighting then check out the room out back, it’s like the red light district in here in here and everyone’s getting freaky with booze.
There’s more on offer here than just gin but the bartenders are so damn good that you’d be missing an opportunity to try something special, we went for a Raffles Singapore Sling which was an educational experience with so many high notes, man.
Although this place really is tiny the weekends sees it kick off like no other, get to know the locals who’re on first name terms with each other or the tourists who wait for a table at Lolita Taperia, a popular tapas joint up the street.
