The Greedy Goose

BARCHICK SAYS

It seems every city around the world has to have one and The Greedy Goose is Beirut's resident English Pub. Others have imitated but none have come close with its deep leather sofas, fireplaces and a great selection of beers on tap courtesy of 961, the Middle East's first and only craft brewery, good work guys.

Sporting events see it filled to the brim, especially during the Six Nations (there aren't too many places to watch the 'rugger' in Beirut) when owner Walid will recount endless tales of playing at prep school, perfect for those feeling homesick (or with nothing else to talk about). Not only that, but it's also home to The St. George's Cricket Club Beirut (AKA the English cricket team of Lebanon)! Probably best to get down with the cricket chat if you wanna make friends.

Drawing in the friendly ex-pat crowd, mainly journalists or smugglers, it's one for the regulars, reminding us that, even abroad the British still yearn for warm beer, fish and chips, Saturday afternoon football and their regular stool at the bar. Sorted.
