The Dirty Onion

The Dirty Onion

BARCHICK SAYS

Walking by its ‘under construction’ facade you could be forgiven for missing The Dirty Onion in Belfast's hopping Cathedral Quarter. Housed in Belfast's oldest building which was once a spirits warehouse, is a room with low ceilings, long benches, exposed wooden beams and the building’s original brickwork. BarChick felt very Irish, sitting by the open fire toe-tapping to the band and cosying to the locals.

We got stuck into a Belfast Black, Belfast’s twist on a world famous Irish stout and made light work of the huge whiskey selection, when in Ireland right? And the upstairs free range chicken rotisserie joint, Yardbird, kept us standing.

Smokers, you’ll love the huge wooden beam structure outside to shelter under, as well as an outdoor bar, seating area and toilets. Shabba. The Dirty Onion is super friendly and you’ll deffo leave with new mates, BarChick had to get an Irish phone.
