BarChick doesn’t like to use the word ‘funky’ too often, but this place certainly warrants it. The Egyptian owners have lovingly filled Kani Mani with novelty goods from their own culture and references are everywhere, kind of like Egypt’s answer to a tiki bar, this place has no idea how good it is.
Glass tables, teak lamps and board furniture add to the retro vibe, look behind the bar and see that even the speakers, fridge and shelving units are from another era, not to mention the till. Unlike many of the flea market/junk shop chic bars in Berlin, this place exudes happiness and BarChick wanted to stay all day. Even the bar is made from that kind of MFI wood that would usually make our toes curl but somehow it works.
The cocktail list is cute and fluffy and there’s a lot to choose from. Against our better judgement we got stuck into a Kani Colada served tall, pink, creamy and surprisingly deliciously. As with most bars in Berlin you can smoke here, we found this a great way to balance out the glittery bevs… ya know, toughen up the look a bit.
