Café Em Nazih

BARCHICK SAYS

With wicker chairs, mosaic tiles and some of Beirut's tastiest (and cheapest) home-cooked Lebanese food, the eponymous Um Nazih (Nazih's Mum) may masquerade as a quaint café by day but, like BarChick, it really comes alive at night. Wednesday is when it's at its best, with the pub quiz drawing in a typically eclectic crowd flexing their general knowledge skills, and it's filled to the rafters.

With weekly events featuring traditional Arab music and live bands, and shisha filling the air, this is one of the best places to witness cross-cultural interaction as both Lebanese and ex-pats flock for the cheap beer and welcoming atmosphere.

On the weekends, the sound of ouds, zitars and the guttural harmony of Arabic singing is accompanied by dabkeh dancing of varying degrees of skill and, of course, lots of drinking! Get your line dancing shoes on and get involved!
