Dom Byta

BARCHICK SAYS

This is where the trendy types hang out. A grand total of six disco balls hang over the DJ booth – they clearly mean business.

After some halfhearted face control at the door (luckily BarChick packed her chat, even if she forgot her cheekbones) we were ushered in. It was like we´d died and gone to Shoreditch. The beautiful (ish) people sat around on slick retro furniture waiting for the dance floor, which takes central stage, to kick off. Deep house music gets things going after midnight and keeps people (kinda) dancing late.

Reel yourself in if you’re expecting mind-blowing cocktails, they kind of got lost in translation. Our Cover Club, a signature drink and old school classic, mixed raspberry puree with random fruit vodkas with 500r barely getting us half a glass.

Dom Byta claims to bridge the gap between the glitz and pearls of the Russian high rollers and the down and dirty city dives. What’s happened is a homage to Russian hipsterdom with plenty of bobble hats and freelance business cards flying about. There are knockout Scandi-style cool interiors and proper tunes, though expect reserved tables and moody looks – Dom Byta is a place to be seen, not to smile.
