We reckon Chachawan has some of the best Thai food we’ve eaten outside of Thailand, but we’re here for the equally impressive Asian-inspired cocktails and the awesome bartenders.
Situated in Hong Kong’s hip Sheung Wan, it’s run by the same folks behind 22 Ships and 208 Duecento Otto so you know the cool kids will be out in force. It's got that urban New York vibe with East meets West décor and some great wall art.
Arrive hungry, and nab a seat at the chef’s bar to watch them whip up authentic Northern Thai treats. These guys aren’t f*cking about with the chili either. If hot and spicy ain’t your thing, speak up! Belly full, head back to the bar for the cocktails. We love their boozey Thai Coffee Shake with Jamaican rum, coffee liqueur, espresso and milk foam or the off menu Tunny’s Margarita, made with tequila, thai tea infused agave and lime– from hilarious bar manager Tunny Grattidge. Nice. If you’re lucky you’ll be invited for a lock-in. We were well in need of the extra drinking time as our mouth was still burning. This place is hotter than lava.
NB. If you're there in winter bring a coat or freeze your t*ts off; the bar is next to the open entrance.
