This is HK's answer to the traditional tiki bar, and it’s a big hit amongst the city’s bar savvy crowd. The cocktail list is endless and features rum just about every way a drunken pirate could hope for. The décor is Polynesian decadence at its kitsch finest, with plenty of wood and bamboo intermingled with brightly painted, patterned walls. The large terrace is adorned with lush greenery and sculpted furniture, as well as a shower hose to cool you down on hot summer days. Love it. And the loos are worth a visit just to check out the sink… do it.
Founder and bar manager French mixologist Max Traverse, (whose CV reads like a roll call of Paris and London’s top bars), seems to work 24/7 with his sole commitment being tending to your booze-induced happiness. The cocktails don't hold back in terms of flavour and certainly pack a punch, but with so many ingredients, don’t expect a speedy concoction. Two or three of these bad boys and you’ll know about it.
We like this place for a second or third date… when you want to know if your other half can keep up in the party stakes. With DJs and live musicians, the atmosphere is always pumping and the lighting suitably dark, but if you want any hope of sitting down you’ll need to book in advance.
