BARCHICK SAYS

The closest thing Hong Kong has to a British gastropub, The Globe would totally get us all homesick if it weren’t so darn good. This is where we come for kickback time; they’ve not only got over 130 cleansing (ahem) craft ales, beers and ciders, but they’re famous for their pies. Damn, BarChick loves a good pie and these bad boys will sober you up enough to keep you going through the night... winner.

A favourite haunt of the after-work expat crowd, it’s chilled and friendly. Larger parties can take over the big tables at the back or if you want to get super-chilled/frisky, commandeer one of the enormous leather sofas in the small private area. While away a lazy Sunday playing giant Jenga (warning that thing falls hard), chess or scrabble, or work your way through the huge bookshelf. They’ve also got a traditional English sweet shop, which keeps the kids (and BarChick) happy.

They claim to make HK's best Bloody Mary, a challenge we were happy to take up. The spicy concoction is blended with chilli, garlic, horseradish and jalapeno juice to make a fiery, hangover-neutralizing remedy. Round two, we're ready.
