BARCHICK SAYS

BarChick loves a good tiki bar, especially when it’s full of reemo Scousers. Beanies and Hawaiian shirts are everywhere, and it’s certainly a look we’re into. Take the steps down from street level into this colourfully graffitied basement bar and the aroma of incense’ll meet you.

The first thing we saw when we arrived was a dude drinking a glow-in-the-dark Mai Tai, sold. Tiki by name and tiki by nature, this place is cluttered fantastic, there’s a surf shack to one side of the room and the rest of the walls have been spray painted by local artists, gratiki we like to call it. The bartenders here are jokes, they gave BarChick her own Hawaiian neck garland to wear and plied her with mescal, bless.

Between shots we drank the Smokey Sanchez (more mescal) and the Soggy Dollar, it’s basically what the Piña Colada wants to be when it grows up (rum, pineapple, oranges and nutmeg) – it’s the crew’s favourite and ours too. Get down to some serious funk here, Wu Tang Clan had us throwing up gun fingers, respect.
