When it comes to hotel bars, Bassoon is ticking all the right boxes, minus the pretension. Stepping in amongst the rich tones is like dipping into a frothy cappuccino. Gold, caramel, mocha and cocoa make this one decadent drinking den. The vibe is jazz age chic with a New Orleans edge - think 1920s décor and a funk-jazz-disco soundtrack that’ll have you wiggling your shoulders. This is a place that makes you wanna go out-out, and that’s before you’ve even set eyes on the cocktail list.   

It’s no surprise that the cocktails are killing it - the menu was created by industry superstars Michael Sager and Marcis Dzelzainis from Sager + Wilde. They’re acing their game right now, and Bassoon is no exception. One unmissable drink BarChick tried was the Champagne on Toast. This cocktail, made with Cognac, Brioche Liqueur and Champagne, was created by Marcis to emulate that vintage plonk only the super rich can afford. Personally, we prefer his version. This drink sums up Bassoon perfectly - accessible luxury for all to enjoy. And BarChick can totally get on board with this.
