Possibly the last place you'd expect to find great cocktails, but the checked shirt n braces clad barmen in the sleepy Abbeville Village will surprise you, pleasantly we hope. The venue is all reclaimed wood, apothecary drawers, leather banquettes and London underground tiles cover the bar - brilliant! They love their British food and drink in here, with cider from Orchard Pig on tap and cocktails made with local spirits - you need to support the local economy right? The restaurant menu is great, but us BarChicks loved the snacks; guinea fowl scratchings, pickled quail eggs and sausage & sage puffs. Nice.
Park yourself at the bar and drink the Scrumpy Sour made with Somerset Shipwreck apple brandy and lemon, or grab a table outside if it’s sunny and sip the summery Gin Francis with Sipsmith Gin, cucumber, mint and ginger beer. Oh, and those apothecary drawers behind the bar, buy a full bottle of liquor from them and they'll store it in there for your next visit, or just finish it.
