BARCHICK SAYS

Sleepy village vibes, busy city drinks

Possibly the last place you'd expect to find great cocktails, but the checked shirt n braces clad bartenders in the sleepy Millenial-magnet Abbeville Village will surprise you - pleasantly we hope. The venue is all reclaimed wood, apothecary drawers, cowhide rugs and copper polished accents embellishing the bright back bar. They love their British food and drink in here, with cider from Orchard Pig on tap and cocktails made with local spirits - you need to support the local economy right? With a menu that takes you from light aperitifs like the cleverly fused tequila-based Mexican in Bombay to stiff post-supper sippers like the Brooklyn which we enjoyed straight up, and the bitter-sweet chancellor made with Scotch, Port, Dry Vermouth & Bitters.

This bistro's big sis has a Michelin-star, and it's pretty easy to see the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree. Adam Byatt has injected a big slog of his talent into the kitchen here, and the grub is spot on. Expect smashing plates like Coriander seared tuna, avocado, sesame and a smack of lime, and if you have a sweet tooth, the smooth, shiny slice of the Brown Butter Custard Tart has your name on it.

Pinching the pennies? Head here between 4-7pm daily to take advantage of their £5 Cocktail Club. If you're looking for more Happy Hour inspo, head over here.
