DF/Tacos

BARCHICK SAYS

This Mexican diner-style restaurant from Wahaca's Thomasina Miers is a must-visit mecca for anyone who loves a cheeky taco or five. Previously called DF/Mexico, it's stripped things back and put the tacos out front and centre. DF stands for Districto Federal, what the Mexican locals call Mexico City for short, got it?

Squeezed between vintage shops and Brick Lane, it's hipster heaven with a Mexican edge. They've gone for the industrial look in a big way; there's a lot of steel, brickwork and wooden benches about. It's bright and breezy too… the perfect pit stop before you hit the shops.

On the menu they've got a couple of local beers, a bunch of Mexican (Sol, Modelo and Pacifico) but it's the Frozen Margaritas you've got to start with. They're made with 100% Agave Cuervo Tequila and fresh lime juice and that's all! The three flavours are Classic, Raspberry & Hibiscus and Passion Fruit, we liked ours classic but everyone's a little different. Peckish? You're in the right place. Aside from the banging tacos, they do burritos , buns (their twist on the Mexican torta) and quinoa salads, it's like Mexican street food meets East London's health kick. You even get little bags of popping candy to take home - sweet!
