Gerry's Club

BARCHICK SAYS

In ‘the Dean Street shuffle’ from Quo Vadis via Groucho and Soho House, Gerry’s is the end game.

This place literally doesn’t exist until you’ve had a skinful, so don’t even think of going before midnight. Yeah it’s a members bar – technically – but so long as you realise the silver-fox patriarch is called Michael and not Gerry, you’ll probably blag it. Once you’ve negotiated the stairs down to the seedy underbelly, probably best stay away from the cocktails (do they do them?) and stick to something you can drink from the neck.

This is a luvvies bar through and through - the great and the good of the old-school acting world will have passed through these doors at some point. Get yourself settled, start a conversation, and who knows what gems from the stage or screen you'll hear.

OK, it may be a bar that most closely resembles the boozer in Star Wars, but as you emerge, blinking into the dawn of a new day, you know you’ve had a genuine Soho experience. And we love it.
