Harry Gordon's Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

The lower ground floor of Selfridges has been given a sexy makeover, and the icing on the cake is the cosy new cocktail bar right in the heart of the store. Harry Gordon’s Bar, named after the store’s founder, is Selfridges’ first cocktail bar, and they didn't mess around. The room is as snug as any non-department store bar and it’s surprisingly light for a bar in a basement. They have even brought in London barman extraordinaire, Ryan Chetiyawardana to create their signature cocktail menu, as well as offering an inspired wine list and some cool craft beers. Sit at the white marble bar on the giant, heavy stools and make sure you order the very English Sacred Breakfast cocktail, made with local Sacred Gin, Kamm & Sons, black tea and marmalade.

If you're peckish there's a selection of sandwiches, cheeses and other things from the food hall for you to munch on while your date browses the adjoining wine shop (there’s over 900 wines on sale so they could be a while but you'll take your revenge when you hit the shoe floor later). The way we see it, there’s now absolutely no reason to leave Selfridges ever again. Ever.
