Hill & Szrok, a butcher’s shop with sex appeal… only on Broadway Market. By day butcher Tom Richardson Hill shows off his passion for all things meaty by selling free range organic meat with 100% traceability. He believes in using every part of the animal so you’ll get the bits you’re used to as well as less familiar, cheaper cuts too - offal anyone? By night the whole place is cleaned up and diners are invited to tuck into hearty dishes prepared by head chef Alex Szrok, with the very best meat from the butcher, boom. With the middle man out of the picture expect surprisingly decent prices for such fine food.

An ornate shop window showcases entire carcasses, up-lit by slick tube-lighting. Once inside, the central marble worktop becomes a communal dining table and additional seats make use of the space around the room, as unromantic as a date in a butcher’s shop seems, this is an intimate affair. Scales, cleavers and cloves of garlic are functional as well as part of the decoration, there are no frills.

Booze wise you’ll be drinking wine and bottles of it. Naturally it’s served unfussily in tumblers and water jugs are the corrugated kind. Bring your man if you’re feeling kind, or your woman if she’s a meat lover, babes dig home cooking and this place takes it back to basics.
