Hoi Polloi is absolutely nothing like its Yankee cousin, but that's actually totally cool. Slap bang in the middle of Shoreditch High Street is where it’s at, although with a flower shop for an entrance it should be a little more bridge ‘n tunnel proof than its neighbours.
High five the guy in the Ace branded bomber, and enter into the cream-banquette filled bar area, located alongside the equally laid back and similar looking restaurant. Everything about the Ace is cool; from the gold pendant lights to the waiters sporting white Nike Airs (managers get black).
When we visited, the room was packed with the hottest of hipsters and pretty people nursing glasses of prosecco, cocktails and craft beers like Camden Hells Lager and Beavertown Smog Rocket fresh from down the road’s Hackney Wick.
Booths are fitted with USB ports and plugs for iphones/laptops, encouraging you to stay all day. The same menu is served in the bar and restaurant, we say go for brunch with all its live music and drink a Ruby Breakfast Fizz with beetroot and horseradish relish, Campari and prosecco along with your eggy bread and bacon. "Supper" is served from 11 until 1am (midnight on Sunday through Wednesday). Who needs a room when you can stay here half the night?
