Jamboree

Jamboree

BARCHICK SAYS

Hidden right in the middle of Cable Street Studios is the booming bar slash hangout that is Jamboree. No bigger than the size of your living room and no fancier than… your living room, it’s where you should come instead of doing the laundry on a weekday. The curtained stage plays host to a whole range of live performers that vary from gypsy and old Jazz to swing bands, comedians and tango dancers. The crowd is usually dancing and divided by velvet stools and round cabaret tables. Dangling lamps and flickering candles give everyone a sexy glow, but then again it’s heavy on the art student crowd so it’s never gonna be short of cheekbones and red lips.

There’s a small charge on the door so bring your change as there sure ain’t a cash point round the corner. Drinks wise they've upped their game and now have a wide selection of spirits and absinthe as well as beers, organic cider, wines and easy cocktails (the crazy straws make up for it) and for around £3.50 we weren’t complaining.

They also do the perfect lazy Sunday after a walk along the canal: jazz, the papers, movies and Irish coffee to sort out any sore heads floating about, but check on their website, because they're not open every weekend.
