BarChick’s British, so naturally she is going to appreciate a hearty portion of fish and chips, but this place is a school above the rest. It’s nautical yet unassuming: with white tiles, wooden tables and simple seating, the fried food is the hero of these simple surroundings.

Slide into one of the booths with a laid back date and start with a round of beers from the amazing Meantime brewery.  Grab some pickled onion rings while you wait, they’re mega. Stick to the traditional or order a fish finger butty or calamari and move from beer to a bottle of white. The fish is perfect and the batter is crunchy, light and fluffy, accompany it with mushy peas or beans.

This place is perfect and super friendly, but if you are in a rush then the take away system is quick and clever. Oh and it’s a big YES from Simon Cowell… legend.
